A too-honest weather forecast

I was checking out the weather this morning and thought I misread the forecast for Saturday. I looked again, and here is what I saw:

It's a little hard to see in this image, but what it says for Saturday's precipitation is "Tons of Rain." We have had some heavy rain lately, so I'm a little worried about what the heck "Tons of Rain" is going to be like.

As I'm typing this I realized that I don't know which weather service this is coming from; I got it from bloglines and there's nothing I have been able to find in the subscription to the weather that tells me where it's actually from.

How to find lost objects

Sure, you can employ some kind of deliberate, tedious method to find things in your house, but I still say my way (i.e. posting the location of something in your blog and then googling for it when you can't remember where it is later) is better.

More photos of Max

This is a fun photo of Max that I took out on the deck last Sunday. The white of his highchair tray blends in with the white background of the page and makes it look like he is sticking his hand through an opening in the page.

I'm still (re-) getting my photography bearings, and I keep telling myself that using a point and click camera is good enough for now, but I really don't like the major lack of light-gathering ability this camera has.

Also, it's obvious that I need to get a better handle on the autofocus, and overriding it to get the focus where I want it to be. In this case, the seatback of the highchair is clear, while Max' face is a little blurry. The other way around is what I would've liked to see, but I'll get it better next time. The hard part with the manual focus is the lack of a focus ring like my old 35mm SLR had; that was just so much more intuitive than what this particular digital camera offers.
