Best magic trick EVER!

This is the best magic trick I've seen in a long time. It's sort of sick and wrong, and I can't stop watching it.

More single speed fun

Here's a better photo of the arrangement I have. Eric Rutz wisely suggested I bring a couple extra zip ties along with me when I ride, so I think I'll put some in my seat bag. I suppose I could even put another one where the first one is just to be safe. Posted by Picasa

Single speed fun

I went single speed on the cheap with my junky old steel-framed mountain bike. I was using the derailleur as a chain tensioner but it was big and bulky and noisy, so I got a chain tensioner from Misfit Psycles. It's a nicer, lighter-weight device, but it has a major design flaw: instead of pushing up on the chain and ensuring the best contact between the cog and the chain, it pushes the chain down, away from the cog, which was causing skips. So, I took out the tensioning spring and on their advice zip-tied that sucker to the chainstay, for maximum wrap-aroundage, and I think it's going to work out pretty well. Posted by Picasa

Alligators make great pets; not so much though if your neighbor provides daycare out of her home

I saw this on Fark today (here's a direct link to the article it references) about a guy who keeps alligators as pets in his house. He has a neighbor who has started providing daycare services out of her home, and naturally she objects to the presence of the 'gators right next door. I thought to myself that it reminded me of a guy I know of who lives in the house I used to live in in Tualatin and I wondered if it could be him. I read the article and it turns out it *is* the guy.

Small world!

The TV is talking to me

For a few days earlier this year in the morning, the TV was talking (texting?) to me. The first time I saw it I thought someone was playing a joke on me, but it turned out to be that the angle of the sun was just right so that it shone through a wind chime outside the window and cast a shadow on the TV screen. Posted by Picasa

Best celebrity-impersonator Pixies tribute site ever!

OK, it may be the *only* celebrity-impersonator Pixies tribute site, but still.... The Prince song alone is so amazingly dead-on Prince-like, and so amazingly Pixies-like that it will blow you away.

Update: So far, my favorite is the Bee Gees covering Wave of Mutilation.

Update: This page makes me smile almost as much as the kitties.
